BOI Reports 1.47 Trillion Baht in Investment Applications for First Half of 2026

Thailand's Board of Investment reported investment applications of about 1.47 trillion baht across 1,299 projects in the first half of 2026, a 37% increase year-on-year, led by digital infrastructure and data centre projects.

The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) reported that foreign and domestic investment applications in the first half of 2026 totalled approximately 1.47 trillion baht (about USD 43.6 billion) across 1,299 projects, an increase of 37% compared with the same period in 2025. The figures cover the period 1 January to 30 June 2026 and were published by the BOI on 23 July 2026.

The digital sector accounted for the largest share, with applications of approximately 1.12 trillion baht (about USD 33 billion), concentrated in data centres, data hosting and cloud services. Electrical appliances and electronics followed at about 120.2 billion baht across 179 projects, agriculture and food processing at about 61.4 billion baht across 131 projects, and logistics and high-value services at about 40.2 billion baht across 170 projects.

Foreign direct investment applications rose 80% year-on-year to about 1.37 trillion baht across 877 projects. Singapore was the largest source at approximately 1.12 trillion baht across 158 projects, followed by the United Kingdom at about 47.2 billion baht, China at about 45.8 billion baht, Taiwan at about 38.0 billion baht and Japan at about 32.8 billion baht. By region, the Central region drew the largest share at about 903.8 billion baht across 513 projects, followed by the Eastern region at about 495.7 billion baht.

According to the BOI, projects approved in the first half of 2026 are expected to generate more than 82,000 jobs for Thai workers and to use approximately 386 billion baht in domestic raw materials annually, representing 42% of those projects' total raw material use. Applications approved for investment promotion in the same period covered 1,300 projects valued at about 1.31 trillion baht.
