Thailand. A Gateway to ASEAN Business.
Strategic location, established industry, and a growing digital economy — discover why global business is building in Thailand.

Why Thailand for Business
Why Thailand for Business
A Stable Base. A Regional Gateway. A Platform for Growth.
Thailand offers international businesses a combination of established industry, regional access, developed infrastructure and a growing digital economy — creating a practical base for trade, investment, operations and expansion across ASEAN.
Why Businesses Use Thailand as a Regional Base
Thailand offers something increasingly rare in global business: a stable, established economy with direct access to the fast-growing ASEAN market. For decades, international manufacturers, traders, and investors have built lasting operations here — drawn by its central location, developed infrastructure, and openness to foreign business. Today, that same foundation supports a new generation of opportunity, from advanced manufacturing to digital services.

Thailand's Latest Trade Data (2026)

Trade Balance
Provisional YTD-US$35.4B (deficit)
calculated from the exports/imports totals above, same period and source
Jan–Jul 2026
The ministry's own release states a deficit of approximately US$35.35B for the same period; the small difference reflects rounding in the published export/import totals. This is a Customs/Ministry of Commerce merchandise-trade balance, not a Bank of Thailand balance-of-payments trade figure — the two are not interchangeable.
Source: Ministry of Commerce (Thailand)
Industrial product exports rose 24.2% year-on-year in July 2026 (its 28th consecutive month of expansion), led by video and audio equipment, telephones, computers and related components — reflecting continued global demand for technology and digital-infrastructure goods. Agricultural exports returned to growth in July (+0.6% y/y) after two months of decline; agro-industrial exports fell 3.3%.
Source priority for current-period Thailand trade data: Thai Customs Department, then the Ministry of Commerce Trade Report, then Bank of Thailand (for balance-of-payments-basis indicators only), then ITC Trade Map and UN Comtrade for international cross-checking. Trade Map was not used as the primary source for the figures above because a newer official Thai government release was already available.
Data Coverage Note
This snapshot draws on a mix of official statistical bodies (NESDC, NSO, BOI) and reputable press/aggregator coverage of their data where a primary bulletin could not be directly opened this pass — each card states which applies. No current-year statistic or ranking is invented; where a figure could not be verified, it is omitted rather than estimated.
