The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, has opened Neramit Amphawa, a ten-day evening programme of food, light, culture and performance staged across Amphawa Floating Market, King Rama II Memorial Park and surrounding riverside areas in Samut Songkhram. Part of the Amazing Thailand Food Festival, the event runs from 11 to 20 September 2026, from 16.00 to 22.00 hrs each day. The opening ceremony at King Rama II Memorial Park was presided over by Mr. Chayachai Saeng-in, Governor of Samut Songkhram Province, joined by TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool.
The concept is rendered in Thai as "Neramit Amphawa: Mueang Sam Nam – Roi Sai Yai Haeng Chiwit", which TAT translates as "the city of three waters, linking the ties of life". The phrase refers to the freshwater, brackish and saltwater environments that shaped Samut Songkhram's livelihoods, ingredients, food traditions and riverside communities. TAT describes the programme through five elements — Food, Flow, Bloom, Glow and Life — arranged as a continuous nine-point walking route. It begins at Amphawa Floating Market, continues along a floral and light-lined walkway to King Rama II Memorial Park, crosses the main road bridge over the canal where architectural lighting reshapes familiar night views, and passes riverside buildings, the Amphawa Chaipattananurak Project, green areas with firefly-inspired lighting effects, the old Wanwan cinema reinterpreted through projection and film, and finally a small canal bridge turned into a photo landmark.
On the two festival weekends, 11–13 and 18–20 September, the programme expands with dedicated food and stage activities at King Rama II Memorial Park. The Amazing Amphawa Food Experience brings together up to 60 food, beverage and local-product vendors, which TAT frames as creating direct sales opportunities for local businesses and communities while following environmental and sustainable travel principles. Stage programmes feature Thai cultural and contemporary performances, retro ramwong circle dancing, music associated with the Suntaraporn tradition, and concerts by established Thai artists from the 1990s music scene.
TAT is delivering the event with Samut Songkhram Province, King Rama II Memorial Park, the Amphawa Chaipattananurak Project, the Marine Department, the Royal Thai Police, Amphawa Subdistrict Municipality and related partners, covering operations, visitor services, safety and environmental management. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the event connects food, waterways, heritage and community life into a night-time experience intended to encourage longer stays and local spending at an established destination while keeping local identity central.
