The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reported on 14 October 2026 that it took part, as a supporting partner, in "CNN Global Perspectives: In Bangkok", the inaugural Asia edition of the programme, held on 14 October 2026 at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok. The event took place alongside the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings.

TAT says Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul opened the programme. Other speakers named by TAT included Hyun Song Shin of the Bank of Korea, Tan Su Shan of DBS Group, Chadatip Chutrakul of Siam Piwat Group, Pandu Sjahrir of Danantara Indonesia and Maggie Kang, co-director of KPop Demon Hunters. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool joined a fireside chat with Anita Mandarita, Special Advisor to the UN Tourism Secretary-General, on value-over-volume tourism, Thai identity and well-being.

TAT describes Thailand as a Global Wellness Destination under the "Healing is the New Luxury" concept and says it is working toward a 60:40 split of tourism benefits between major and emerging destinations. It also cites an "Amazing 5 Economy" framework covering the Life, Sub-Culture, Night, Circular and Platform economies. Governor Thapanee is quoted: "Thailand's next chapter in tourism is about creating value that reaches further to travellers."
