Thailand received 22,183,678 foreign visitors between 1 January and 19 September 2026, according to Ministry of Tourism and Sports figures reported by Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul on 21 September 2026. The total is 3.67% lower than the same period of 2025. Foreign tourism revenue for the period reached approximately 1.082821 trillion baht.
China remained the largest single source market for the year to date with 3,728,585 visitors, followed by Malaysia with 2,831,654, India with 1,640,441, Russia with 1,230,256 and South Korea with 811,246.
In the week of 13 to 19 September 2026, Thailand received 464,200 foreign visitors — an increase of 25,131, or 5.72%, on the previous week — for a daily average of 66,314. Short-haul arrivals totalled 324,816, up 8.59% week on week, while long-haul arrivals were 139,384, down 0.41%. Malaysia led the weekly table with 69,255 visitors, up 29.12% on the previous week during the Malaysia Day holiday, and Japanese arrivals rose 55.36% to 30,494 ahead of Silver Week, which ran from 19 to 23 September 2026.
The ministry expects the Chuseok holiday from 24 to 26 September 2026, the Mid-Autumn Festival from 25 to 27 September 2026 and the Chinese National Day holiday from 1 to 7 October 2026 to support arrivals in the weeks ahead, partly offsetting an anticipated slowdown in the Malaysian market. All figures are the Ministry of Tourism and Sports' own weekly tourism statistics for the stated periods; the ministry publishes these counts on a rolling weekly basis, so later revisions to year-to-date totals are possible.
