Music

Nene Royal: America's Got Talent Season 21

Nene Royal, a 16-year-old singer and guitarist from Phuket, won Season 21 of America's Got Talent. Thailand's Government Public Relations Department reported the result on 24 September 2026 and described her as the first Thai winner in the show's history. The result was announced on 23 September, US time.

This section keeps personal detail to what the sources state, because she is a minor. For the full account of her season, see T3's dated article Thai Women on the Global Stage.

Science & technology

Bringing the Internet to Thailand, and young inventors today

Dr Kanchana Kanchanasut, a 2013 Internet Hall of Fame Pioneer inductee, set up Thailand's first experimental domestic research and education network in 1988, connecting five universities. She registered the .TH domain name and has administered it since 1988, and in 1991 her efforts led to the first leased-line TCP/IP connection to the global network, according to the Hall of Fame.

In May 2026 the National Research Council of Thailand reported that it led more than 500 young Thai inventors to the World Young Inventors Exhibition at ITEX 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, with more than 150 inventions entered. T3 does not report any award result for that event.

Food

Tomyum Kung and The World's Best Female Chef

In 2024 UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee inscribed Tomyum Kung on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. UNESCO describes it as a traditional prawn soup that developed among riverside communities in the Central Plains. This is recognition of living heritage and its transmission, not a ranking of dishes.

Separately, Pichaya “Pam” Soontornyanakij of Potong in Bangkok was named The World's Best Female Chef 2025 by The World's 50 Best Restaurants, an award voted by its Academy of 1,120 experts. The organiser says she is the first Asian winner in the award's 14-year history.

That is an individual award, distinct from the UNESCO inscription above and from any restaurant ranking.

Heritage

Songkran: living heritage

In 2023 UNESCO inscribed Songkran in Thailand, traditional Thai New Year festivalon the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. UNESCO's Thailand page now lists six Thai elements in total.

Inscription recognises a living practice kept alive by its communities. It is not a league table, and it says nothing about which tradition is “best”.

Creative work

Khon and Nora: performing arts on UNESCO's list

Two Thai dance-drama traditions are inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List: Khon, masked dance drama in Thailand (2018) and Nora, dance drama in southern Thailand (2021).

Apichatpong Weerasethakul's Palme d'Or (see Film) is a contemporary example of Thai creative work recognised abroad. This section is a sample, not a survey of Thai design, fashion or the arts.
